Visitors or overseas citizens who want to visit Australia for a short period can apply for the Australian Visitors Visa. The Australian Visitors Visa is a temporary visa, which does not allow any working in Australia during the stay. This includes bank statements and credit card statements to show that they have enough financial resources available to them. 

Parents or grandparents of Australian citizens, permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens can apply for an Australian Visitor visa provided the applicant is on the invitation of their relatives in Australia. The application should be made outside Australia, and applicants must meet health and character requirements as per policy guidelines. Parents will require to submit evidence that they plan to leave Australia at the end of their stay (bank statements etc.). This includes parents of students studying in Australia who intend to leave once their child's study period ends. Before arrival, the application must be made outside Australia with an Australian contact person. Any person can give no guarantee of entry into Australia within Australia.

Australian visitor visa for parents has a processing time of 60 days with more extended options if the department or home affairs require more information. Having private health insurance for Australia will also be beneficial if medical attention is needed while visiting Australia.
