The partner visa Melbourne allows a person to settle in Australia if they are engaged to or are in a relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. The applicant must be nominated by their partner in Australia (sponsor). The applicant must meet health and character requirements to apply for this visa type. If successful, the visa is valid for five years before another application must be made.

If you have been living overseas and wish to come back to Australia as a permanent resident, you can choose from several pathways under which someone can migrate to Australia. There are visas available for those who wish to migrate based on their skills and qualifications, family ties, humanitarian needs or simply because they want to live in Australia.

One visa that you can apply for if you wish to come back into the country is a Partner Visa which allows someone who has married or entered into a de facto relationship with an Australian citizen or permanent resident the right to live here indefinitely. This type of visa also provides work rights to help you support yourself once you enter Australia and access to Medicare cover, social security benefits, and other services available only to eligible residents of the nation. The first step towards obtaining this visa is lodging an application at your local Australian embassy along with all required supporting documents. Once your application is installed, it will be processed by the Department of Immigration.

Application Procedure For Partner Visa

There are several different categories within the Partner category that you need to know about before beginning your application procedure.

It gives provisional approval to marry or enter into a de facto relationship. The temporary visa permits you to live in the country for 12 months while your application is finalised.
  • Partner (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 100) - This visa is for people who intend to get married enter into a registered relationship with their partner outside of Australia. Or, if they entered into the marriage or relationship after entering Australia, this will establish that they were genuinely in a committed and continuing relationship at the time. The applicant should be outside of Australia when the application is submitted but can later return to Sydney on another visa.
  • Spouse Visa (Subclass 820/801 - This visa allows one spouse/partner to migrate permanently to Australia if they have an eligible sponsor. The subclass 820 visa is for the partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, while the subclass 801 visa is for the de facto partner (including same-sex partners) of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
